1995 (N) honda civic abs and srs warning lights

Postby 1985civic » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:52 am

I have a problem with this car it is a honda civic 1.6ls saloon which the srs light is always on and the abs light comes off and on when it suites it, (more so at MOT times strangly enough). does anybody know of a way of dealing with this issue or even what could be causing it as it is getting to be a pain in the arse. :(

For the srs light, you can reset it by following the guide on our sister site civic5. I don't have the link to hand as im busy at work, but it should be in the electrical section if i remember rightly. If its noit, just use the search facility on the civic5 site. Its an easy step by step process (pics included) that the garages charge a fortune for! If it wont reset, then there is a fault that will need fixed before resetting the system.

The abs light could be a dodgy sensor/sensor wire/sensor ring. Is the engine management light flashing up any codes when the abs light goes on? Hope this helps

hmm, I wouldnt have thought the two fault are connected (although you never know! lol) Try the srs reset procedure in the how to mate, and see if that clears the srs light. The ABS light will either have to be diagnosed by honda, or you could try a trial and error approach, but this could be costly and time consuming. Im betting on either a faulty abs sensor, or sensor ring. But which wheel, i have no idea!
